ALEX JAMES BRITPOP

As the former bass guitarist of Brit-pop band Blur, it seems fitting that Alex James has now launched a sparkling cider, aptly named Britpop!

This is not the first time Alex has pursued his hobby to create something wonderful. After retiring from music and relocating to his farm in Oxfordshire, Alex reinvented himself as a well-respected cheesemaker, creating well known cheeses such as the award-winning Goddess, Blue Monday and Little Wallop. His love of local food and drink saw the launch of The Big Feastival at his farm, an annual event showcasing local food and drink, top name chefs and of course, great music.

It was at this festival in 2021, that James launched his Britpop cider, in collaboration with Weston’s Cider. It is made from bitter sweet and bitter sharp cider apples, carefully picked from orchards within England’s cider belt – the counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.

The cider was an instant success and even became the festival’s best-selling drink. Not surprisingly, it is great partnered with one of Alex’s cheeses.
