When Charlie Beldam was a student at Cirencester’s Royal Agricultural University, he chose to do his final thesis on ways to add value to crops. This led him to his family farm in Broadway where fields of rapeseed were grown just to feed the cattle. Charlie’s thinking was that there must be other viable uses for this crop. And he was right!

The idea of creating top quality, cold pressed rapeseed oil to use in cooking was inspired and after lots of research, Charlie’s university project became a fully fledged business. Eleven years later, and Cotswold Gold is thriving; it is loved by top chefs such as Raymond Blanc and James Martin, and is used by many leading restaurants and pubs in the Cotswolds. This success has earned Cotswold Gold oils a number of Great Taste awards and a Cotswold Life Food Hero of the Year award for Charlie.

Being cold pressed, the oil retains a number of health benefits – it is high in vitamin E, rich in omegas 3, 6, 9 and low in cholesterol. It is also incredibly versatile, in the kitchen and can be used for tasty dressings as well as frying at high temperatures.
