COTSWOLDS DISTILLERY

This idyllic Cotswold distillery in Shipston-on-Stour not only makes award-winning spirits, it is a Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice award-winner too. The distillery came into being in 2014 when native New Yorker Daniel Szor saw an opportunity to spend more time with his family in the Cotswolds while also indulging his love of good whisky.

Whisky production is at the heart of the distillery and alongside the Cotswolds Signature malt, there are also special edition cask whiskies. Only locally grown barley goes into the whiskies, with each bottle even stating the farm where the barley was grown. The barley is traditional floor malted in Britain’s oldest working maltings in Warminster before fermentation and then distillation back at the distillery in the 2500-litre copper still, known as Mary.

But it’s not just whisky that is produced at Cotswolds Distillery – there is an ever-expanding range of gins, as well as a vermouth, summer cup and cream liqueur. The venue in Shipston-on-Stour hosts tasting sessions and masterclasses and an onsite café.
