ETHICAL ADDICTIONS COFFEE

Not only do the single estate beans and house blends produce delicious coffee but the whole ethos behind the Gloucester-based company is creating a fairer and more transparent trade, direct with the famers who grow the beans.

‘Farm Direct Coffee’ is the tag line for the company – it’s Fair Trade with a caffeine boost! For head bean, Ian Meredith, going one step further than the Fairtrade status was important and allows him to operate a company that fully engages with and understands exactly how the individual farmers benefit.

To put this ethos into action, Ian has built relationships with coffee farmers from Africa and South America, buying direct from them and helping them to reinvest their income back into the community. The beans are then brought back, roasted and blended at the company’s roastery in Kingsholm in the heart of Gloucester, where the team enjoy discovering new and intricate flavours.
