HOBSONS BREWERY

Founded by Jim and son Nick Davis in the Shropshire town of Cleobury Mortimer in 1993, Hobson’s is an award-winning family-owned brewery. Since Jim’s retirement in 2000, Nick has continued to grow the brewery and now employs 22 members of staff and produces over nine core beers.

Hobson’s Best is the first beer brewed in those early days and was sold to local pubs and friends. Standing the test of time, Best remains popular and is still brewed today. Other beers in the range include stouts, porters, hoppy beers and pale ales. The beers are all made with local Maris Otter malting barley and 80% are made from British hops from Brook House Hops, 20 miles away and Hobson’s House yeast., which gives the beers a unique flavour.

Back in 2007, Hobson’s Champion Mild won the coveted CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain. More recently, the company has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability, winning the Society of Independent Brewers Award for Best Green Business in 2021 (after winning it 10 years earlier in 2010!), and the Blue Marches Water Efficiency Award in 2020.
