HOOK NORTON

This family brewery has been brewing in Oxfordshire for six generations and has been proudly independent since 1849. It is one of only 32 family-owned breweries in the country and is a fine example of a Victorian Tower Brewery. The original steam engine that was installed in 1899 is still used today in the brewing process to pump water from the well below.

While Hook Norton Brewery may look quaint and idyllic on the outside, on the inside there is a lot of modern-day innovation. In 2014, a micro-brewery was installed to enable the brewers to experiment and trial new beers. The first beer brewed in the micro-brewery, Red Rye, actually went on to win the World’s Best Speciality Beer at the World Beer Awards the following year! The micro brewery is also available for people to use to brew their own beer for special occasions.

As well as a range of classic cask and keg beers, the brewery produces a new limited edition seasonal beer each month plus a the gluten-free Oatsower beer, a lager and cider.
