OUR COMMUNITY, OUR YEAR!
Dear Taste Club Member,
At Warner’s, we’ve always believed that being a local store means being part of something much bigger. When Warner’s launched in 2007, one of our main aims was to be at the heart of the communities we serve – and almost 20 years later, that means so much more than simply being a place to do your weekly shop.
It’s about the amazing people, volunteers, schools, sports clubs, charities and community groups who make our local area such a special place to live.
One of the ways we try to give something back is through our Community Savings Scheme, which has now been running for more than 15 years and has raised over £50,000 for local groups and charities. The best part is that it’s our customers who decide where the money goes. For every £10 spent in store, customers earn a token which can be donated to the local cause they’d most like to support.
Looking back over the last year, there is plenty to celebrate at Upton-upon-Severn.
From Upton’s very first Christmas Lights Switch-On, brought to life by the incredible UpTogether team, to local festivals, sporting events, school activities and community projects, it’s been another year of people giving their time, energy and enthusiasm to make Upton and the surrounding villages better for everyone.
This year alone, your support through the Community Savings Scheme has helped us give £2,122.85 to four brilliant local organisations: 1st Upton Scouts, Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, Hanley Swan Primary School PFA and Upton Community Care. The money is helping fund everything from a new Scout Hut kitchen and outdoor spaces for children, to care packages for patients and transport for elderly residents attending medical appointments.
We genuinely love being an active part of the community. Supporting the local Welland football team as they develop into young adults over the years has been hugely rewarding. We have also supported local primary and secondary schools in the area, delivered to the Upton Baptist Church Food Bank during the floods and helped celebrate community events from Christmas carols to Food Truck Fridays. One of our team even ran the Worcester Half Marathon, raising £537.23 for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.
We’re also proud to support the local producers who make this area so special, giving around 70 local producers a route to market and stocking over 700 local lines in our stores.
So, this month, we simply wanted to celebrate the volunteers, community groups, schools, clubs, charities, Local Heroes – and you, our customers – who make our community such a special place to be. Thank you for supporting us too.
