PENDERYN DISTILLERY

In a bid to recreate the art of distilling in Wales, a group of friends in the 1990s put their heads together and decided to create a Welsh whisky. As with all of the best ideas, this meeting of minds took place in a pub – in the Welsh Valleys – where it was agreed that the village of Penderyn should be the place in which to resurrect Welsh distilling, last see in Wales over a century ago. 

With its own supply of natural fresh spring water, the village of Penderyn in the Brecon Beacons was the ideal location. After the installation of a unique copper still, Penderyn Distillery was officially launched, in the presence of HRH Prince Charles, on St David’s Day in 2004.

With a team of experienced craftsmen and women, the distillery quickly gained a reputation for its range of spirits, which have won over 70 Double Golds/Golds/Masters awards. Further expansion has seen the opening of another distillery in Llandudno with another scheduled to open in Swansea. Today the whiskies are available in over 45 countries worldwide.
